FAQs

What should we wear?

Bright, bold colors always look great in photos. I usually suggest to stay away from busy patterns or large logos, as it detracts from you and your child’s face, which is where we want the attention! Feel free to bring fun hats, tutus and scarves. Also, bring more than one outfit, if you’d like, and we can change things up midway though. For families, complimenting, not necessarily matching colors, look great. For newborns – I love to photograph babies in their natural state – naked! We’ll use fun blankets and cocoons. Simple is usually best.

When is the best time to photograph newborns?

Newborn sessions are best done in the first two weeks, with days 5-10 being ideal. It’s best to schedule newborn photos early in your pregnancy, and I will note your due date on my calendar. Once your little one arrives, call me as soon as possible to schedule the exact time and day. Where will my session take place? I am a natural light photographer, which means I don’t utilize a studio. Although newborn photos will always take place in your home, you can chose any location for your child or family portraits. Also, I would be more than happy to suggest a few beautiful places that I like to shoot at.

Why do you photograph newborns at home?

I’ve yet to meet a mom that is eager to take her one week old out of the house to a studio, let alone big brother or sister. By photographing your newborn in your home, you will not only be relaxed during the session, but it’s ideal when you have an older sibling you’d like to involve. Whether capturing moments in their nursery or family bonding on your bed, we will create a truly personal experience.

How long will my session last?

Children and family sessions will typically last between 60 and 90 minutes. For newborn sessions, it’s not uncommon for me to be at your home for up to three hours.

When will I be able to see my photographs?

Your proofs will be ready within ten days of your session. You will be able to view them in the comfort of your home using a password I will give to you. Your proofs will be online and available to order for one week, so please ensure any family and friends order within this timeframe as well. Please allow 1-2 weeks for delivery of your order.

What is the best way to book a session?
